Day 1: LARNACA - ATHENS - KARPENISSI (Friday)
Meeting at Larnaca airport and flight to Athens. Arrival, pickup and departure for the heart of Sterea Hellas, Karpenissi with an intermediate stop at Kamena Vourla for an optional meal.Arriving and arranging in rooms and free time for a first acquaintance. In the evening we will watch the procession of the Epitaph in the central square of Karpenisi.
Day 2: KORYSCHADES - MONASTERY PROUSIOTISSA-MEGALO CHORIO (Saturday)
Breakfast and departure alongside the Karpenissiotis River. We will take the first stop at the historic village of Koryschades, just 5km from Karpenissi, visiting the National Resistance Museum and continuing to Prousso where the great pilgrimage of Our Lady is situated, in a magnificent landscape in the gorge. Thousands of believers flock all year round to the miraculous icon, which is believed to have arrived here alone from Bursa in Asia Minor.Returning, we will stop at Megalo Chorio. Built in a dense fir forest, it retains its stone character. Free time in the village square for food and to wander to enjoy the amazing valley of the river. You can also visit the churches and the folklore museum or the traditional little shops with sweets and fine things that women make in the club as well. In the evening we will watch the resurrection at the Byzantine church of Agia Triada, which is the Cathedral of Karpenisi, while the countless fireworks will illuminate the sky. Dinner with Cooking and Red Eggs at a local restaurant.
Day 3: KARPENISSI - MIKRO CHORIO (Easter Sunday)
Breakfast and free time. We'll leave before noon for Mikro Chorio, which is one of the most popular destinations in Sterea Hellas. It consists of the Old and the New Small Village, which are only 3 km away from each other, located in a place with incredible mountain beauty and have their own history, as on December 13, 1942, there was a battle between the rebels of Aris Velouchiotis and 2000 Italians.The rebel conquerors burnt alive and executed 13 people. This battle is considered pan-European as the first battle-resistance against the fascist regime.Another milestone in the history of the village is the great disaster it experienced in January 1963, where, after heavy rainfall, a landslide completely destroyed 2/3 of the village and 13 people were lost. In 1968 the New Small Village was rebuilt after a fundraiser. Here we will have an Easter feast with abundance and plenty of drink, dances and songs.In the afternoon at our hotel.
Day 4: KARPENISSI - DOMNITSA - KRIKELLO (Easter Monday)
After breakfast, we depart for Domnitsa, a beautiful mountain village that has been connected with important historical events of the modern history of Greece. Whilte touring, it's worth visiting the Folklore and the Historical Museum. We'll continuew our trip for another beautiful mountain village called Krikello, which consists of stone-built traditional houses. There will be time for a walk in the village square with the plane trees, the cafes and the traditional taverns.We return to our hotel in the afternoon.
Day 5: KARPENISI-GEFYRA GORGOPOTAMOU-ATHENS-LARNAKA (Tuesday)
Breakfast and leave Roumeli for Gorgopotamos, with the Historic Bridge. Time for lunch on the way to the airport. Arrival and flight to Larnaca.
